Personality & Traits

General Overview Sugar, spice, and copious amounts of aerosol spray, Dr. Winnie Faircrest is an adventurous and spontaneous soul with a cackling laugh reminiscent of a old fairytale witch that lives in the forests. Though instead of luring children into her gingerbread home to fatten them up, she just enjoys the companionship of others. Her whimsicalness draws the average passerby in for a good tale and cup of tea.

With her years of Starfleet service, being a physician, and her work with the Mariposas, Winnie has a wealth of stories to tell and she welcomes the opportunity to share them with anyone that will listen (and sometimes those who do not). She can be a bit of a jabber jaw, rivaling that of the most boisterous of Bolians.

Winnie has a love a love for music and there is almost always a tune stuck in her head which causes for an excessive amount of humming. She is an infamous multi-tasker to the point that it can be a bit disturbing to others what two or more things she will try to do at once. If it weren't for the sanitary concerns, she'd likely be enjoying a warm mug of coffee mid surgery.

Moderately lactose intolerant yet passionately in love with cheese, Dr. Faircrest has a bad habit of being overly indulgent, but makes sure to monitor her intake as best she can. She also medicates with enzymes to help her digestion of diary products.

Winnie enjoys the simplest things in life, the small things that most people take for granted. Whether that be a nice warm mug of hibiscus tea or stopping somewhere to enjoy a mountainous view or smelling the local field of roses. There's no greater joy for Dr. Faircrest than journey and nothing more rewarding that helping others. The destination is irrelevant to her.

Strengths & Weaknesses Weaknesses:
The biggest challenge she faces is that Winnie often is so focused and hyper fixated on immediate pleasures that she can sometimes neglect the duties and responsibilities that make those luxuries possible.

Complex analyses, repetitive tasks, and matching statistics to real consequences are not easy activities for her to concentrate on. She often will find herself trying to perform other more interesting tasks while she waits for results come in. A Vulcan without strong will and control over their emotions would be likely be mildly annoyed by Winnie's fidgeting.

If the Federation were dependent on monetary values, Winnie would likely be greatly in debt. She does not really know how to 'live within her means' and enjoys luxury items: confections, cosmetics, and fabrics.

Winnie can also be a bit of an emotional tempest. She thrives on being praised and positive reinforcements, but is vulnerable to harsh criticism. She does not respond well to feeling trapped or cornered.

Strengths:
Known for her zest for life and infectious enthusiasm, Winnie naturally exudes the kind of positivity that lights up a room and draws people to them, and this often translates into an engaging charisma that can inspire those around them. If you need a de facto morale officer, you need not look any further than Dr. Winnie Faircrest.

Though she doesn't know much about stellar phenomena nor is she an expert in invasive surgery, she has a decent bit of knowledge of biology and chemistry. Specifically being raised on the land by her Apsáalooke family, she has familiarized herself with 'traditional' medicine and is a bit of an 'herbalist' to the point that one could argue she has a small apothecary.

Personal History Retired and having given Starfleet several of her best years of service, Winnie Faircrest had no interest in putting on that uniform again. Still actively practicing medicine, Doctor Faircrest is a humanitarian aide advocate and passionate about providing care for those in critical need. She has spent her life as a medical practitioner and care provider going wherever the physician was needed so that she could lend a hand or be a strong voice advocating for more Federation intervention. Doctor Faircrest is a familiar face on the speaking circuit around the Federation stretching from the Alpha Quadrant to Beta Quadrant, routinely being invited to various medical symposiums.

Her passion started from an early age and the Montana winds carried her from the Federation’s Crow reservation that she grew up on into being accepted into Montana State University on a pre-med track. There, she majored in Sociology and minored in Public Policy. She was particularly interested in how groups and individuals interacted and responded to various situations and stressors including outside influences such as governments. Initially preparing herself to continue her education to become a counselor, she was bitten by the medicine bug when learning about planets that the Federation had focused on helping overcome diseases, plagues, and famines. Learning more about Starfleet Medical from a recruiter had lured her away from a future in the private sector.

After graduating from MSU, Winnie Faircrest took the entrance examination for Starfleet Academy’s School of Medicine. She performed well enough to earn a seat, accepted by the academy and was able to continue her studies in 2341. Her first two years of medical school were spent learning the basics of medical concepts, anatomy, and simple procedures. An additional two years were spent in clinical rotations giving Winnie firsthand experience under the supervision of a faculty member. She worked with patients and rotated around various specialists and areas of medical practice. Raised by her Apsáalooke family, Winona grew up with a deep-rooted respect for the land and the medicine of plants. Her auntie was known as a bit of a spiritual healer or medicine woman. From an early age, Winnie was comfortable with using a mortar and pestle.

In 2345, she successfully completed her classroom education of medical school, but several years of residency and a fellowship were ahead. Wearing the uniform of a Starfleet officer and earning her commission as an ensign, Winnie Faircrest began her residency assignment on Caldik Prime, site of a Starfleet hospital. Though she learned under the Chief Surgeon at the small hospital on Caldik Prime, surgery was not something Winnie was all that interested in herself. Over the years, she declared Preventative Medicine as her specialty with a concentration on Public Health.

Those like Winnie who sought to become specialists of Preventative Medicine were aiming to prevent the spread of diseases, viruses, and infections through promoting healthy behaviors, diminishing the risks, and ensuring safe practices and procedures were in place. It allowed Winnie to fall back upon her undergraduate education in Public Health and Sociology. She spent four years on Caldik Prime before moving onto a fellowship opportunity in 2349.

From 2349 until 2352, Winnie Faircrest served aboard the USS Vesalius, a Federation hospital ship operating in the alpha quadrant providing aid during the border wars with the Cardassians. It was during this time she witnessed firsthand the pain, sorrow, and destruction that war could bring. Though her specialty was preventative medicine, she often found herself scrubbing up to assist on the field and aboard the Vesalius in lifesaving surgical operations. Something that after a few years of experiencing, she did not want to endure further if she could prevent it. She successfully earned her Doctor of Medicine degree, Federation licensure, and promptly was given a second pip as lieutenant junior grade.

Her first assignment free from fellowship and out on her own was aboard an Ambassador class starship, the USS Belle Noir. A junior physician within the medical department, she was under the supervision of the Assistant Chief Medical Officer. Doctor Faircrest was a general practitioner on the night watch from 2352 until 2355 aboard the Belle Noir. As the starship trekked through the Beta Quadrant on diplomatic and humanitarian missions, Doctor Faircrest was able to assist on a few occasions where a Federation colony or world were on the verge of an outbreak of illness or disease. She was moved to the beta shift in 2355 and remained with the Belle Noir until 2359.

She had a brief assignment with promotion to lieutenant in 2359 until 2361 serving aboard the USS Cape Canaveral where she was stationed as the Assistant Chief Medical Officer aboard the Soyuz class starship. The starship mostly operated in the nefarious triangle region, dealing with marauders and raiders. It was one of Winnie’s least favorite assignments in her career.

Doctor Winnie Faircrest spent her last years with Starfleet stationed on Earth at Starfleet Medical. Primarily, she worked on Federation health and public awareness campaigns, but was tapped on to teach a few biology and sociology courses at Starfleet Academy as a lecturer. She did this until 2365 when she chose to ‘retire’ from Starfleet and resigned her commission.

Her activities in the following several years are not that well known to Starfleet due to her transition to the private sector. She did spend some time working for the United Federation of Planets’ Department of Health Services and she did leave Earth several times aboard a vessel with ties to the Mariposas organization. It is documented that she was part of the Federation’s Doctors Without Borders efforts as well. For the most part she was able to stay off the radar with the exception of a few arrests but charges were dropped.
