| Personal History | James was born to Rear Admiral Othello Hunt and Olan Kina on Temek Labor Camp on Amleth Prime in Cardassian space. His younger brother was born in the camp as well. The only thing the Cardassians hated more than the Bajorans were Starfleet. Growing up he witnessed his father getting mistreated more than most and a lot of that hatred was directed at his brother and himself to being a combination of Human and Bajoran. At 15 years old James had attempted to steal a shuttle and managed to allude the Cardassians for several hours before being capatured. This attempt lead to him receiving several lashings. Even though upset the Cardassians were impressed with his natural ability to pilot a ship and allude them. This eventually led to forcing him to participate in the small ship races around the camp for entertainment purposes. Due the harsh conditions, his father past away in 2365. A year later, Starfleet raided the prison camp freeing the prisoners. His mother Olan Kina took it upon herself to join Bajoran Resistance. Betes and himself returned to Earth where they lived with their Uncle Marques. Being 18 years old, James decided to Enlist in Starfleet. There was something about seeing how they rescued them that never left their mind with the tactics they used. Security was the profession he chose and soon found himself assigned to the USS Trinidad. On the USS Trinidad, he proved to be a hardwork than most due to his past experiences on the camp, which made Starfleet his opinion simple. A few years later in 2368, he was assigned to the USS Santo Domingo where Captain Henry Mendosa had served with his father years prior as a Lieutenant. When asked why he did not attend the Academy, James mentioned that he was taking classes and wanted to eventually become a officer. Mendosa informed him that when the time came, he would approve. Four months later the ship was attacked and boarded. Many of the Senior staff were killed during the attack, including the Chief Security/Tactical Officer. Mounting an offense, Hunt helped free the remaining of the Senior staff on the surface of the planet below while piloting a shuttle in extreme conditions. After this, Captain Mendosa immediately insisted that he transfer over to the Helm Department as a Shuttle Pilot including with a promotion to Petty Officer 2nd Class. In 2370, James learns that his younger brother Betes dropped out of Starfleet Academy in order to join the newly formed Maquis. This is due to Betes still holding harsh feelings towards the Cardassians. James last call with his brother was an argument regarding the Federation trying to keep the peace, while Betes believes that his brother has gotten way too comfortable in the Federation and had completely forgotten what their entire childhood was like. During this year, Hunt is promoted to Petty Officer 1st Class. Hunt continued to do well in his task and when the position for Flight Control Officer came open on the USS William Dawes, he quickly put in and was accepted with a high recommendation from Captain Mendosa. |
